What is Hypnotherapy:
A form of psychotherapy that uses the subconscious to change attitudes, behaviors, thoughts, and feelings into new and positive outcomes for a patient/client. Hypnosis can be achieved by using relaxation techniques, as well as concentration and openness from the one being hypnotized. Hypnosis is believed to change neural pathways in the brain and body so that new and positive connections can be made. Modern science backs the efficacy of hypnosis and its outcomes.
Origin:
There have been several written documents throughout history that link hypnotism-type practices to the ancient Egyptians and Hindu Vedas. However, a Western Scientist, Franz Mesmer, in the 18th century started investigating an effect that came to be known as “mesmerism” and also known then as “animal magnetism”. Mesmer’s studies were the first to bring modern day hypnosis to the forefront of healing and away from what so many regarded as dangerous occult practices.
